IL CANALE HOTEL, Bologna

Il Canale Hotel sits on a quiet canal-side street in Bologna's historic centre, within a 10-minute walk of Bologna Centrale railway station and 8 minutes from Piazza Maggiore. The airport shuttle bus stops nearby, making arrivals from Bologna Airport straightforward without a car. Fiera di Bologna and the Two Towers are both easily reached on foot. The surrounding area is packed with restaurants, with several (Trattoria del Rosso, Ristorante Donatello, and others) all within a 300-metre radius. Parking is not available on site; the nearest paid public car park is Piazza VIII Agosto, a 5-minute walk away. The location is well suited to exploring the city entirely on foot, and the immediate area feels safe and central while remaining relatively calm.

Il Canale Hotel offers a daily buffet breakfast for an additional charge of 8 EUR per person. The breakfast includes bread, croissants, cakes, ham, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, yoghurt, cereal, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee made from a machine. There is no hot-cooked option, and the variety is limited compared to larger hotels. The breakfast room overlooks the canal and has a pleasant atmosphere. A bar is on site, serving wine, champagne and fruit, and breakfast can be delivered to the room. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but the surrounding streets contain numerous dining options such as Trattoria del Rosso and Ristorante Donatello, all within a 5-minute walk.

Wellness facilities are limited to a sun terrace and a garden area. There is no swimming pool, spa, gym, or wellness centre. The hotel offers bicycle rental for an additional charge, which is a practical way to explore Bologna's flat historic centre and surrounding areas.

The hotel provides free Wi-Fi throughout the property, though connectivity can be intermittent. A 24-hour front desk offers concierge service, currency exchange, and express check-in/out. Luggage storage is available free of charge after checkout, which is very useful for exploring the city before departure. The property has a lift, making it easier with luggage, and rooms are on upper floors. Daily housekeeping includes towel changes and replenishment of bottled water. Laundry and ironing services are available for a fee. Babysitting or child care can be arranged at an additional charge. Pets are allowed at no extra cost. The hotel uses a safe deposit box for valuables. Fax/photocopying is available free of charge. The hotel has a designated smoking area and allergy-free rooms.
