CASA CASTILLO POLANCO, Mexico City

The hotel sits on a main road between Polanco and Condesa, offering easy access to several top sights: the National Museum of Anthropology (15 minutes on foot), Chapultepec Castle (2 km), and Chapultepec Forest are all within walking distance. The Angel of Independence is also nearby. OXXO convenience store is right next door, and multiple restaurants, cafes (Pan Comido, Otro Cafe), and fast food (Panda Express) are within 0.5 km. Benito Juárez International Airport is 14 km away-Uber or Didi are fast and simple to order. For public transport, the subway is about a 15-minute walk. The immediate block is quiet and gated, but the main road brings significant traffic noise, especially in lower-floor rooms.

Rooms range from standard doubles to spacious two- and three-bedroom apartments with kitchenettes. All have private bathrooms with hairdryers and safety deposit boxes. The building has no elevator, so upper floors require stairs. Ground-floor units (rooms 1, 3, 4, 5) face the main road and can be noisy due to traffic and trash collection; requesting rooms on the other side of the building (e.g., 10 or 12) provides a quieter stay. Rooms are equipped with fans but no air conditioning, so open windows let in noise and dust. Some rooms have small balconies or terraces. The decor is modern with comfortable beds-some guests find mattresses firm-and clean, spacious bathrooms. Joint rooms and interconnected suites are available for families.

Each room includes a coffee machine (Nespresso), microwave, refrigerator, and-in some-a stovetop. A limited supply of coffee pods and bottled water is provided at check-in; extras are available for a fee. The immediate area offers several dining options within a 5-minute walk: Mexican (Casa Loredo, Las Mercedes), casual (Pan Comido, Bistro, Beef Bar), and international (Panda Express). Otro Cafe is nearby for coffee and breakfast. A larger variety of cafes and restaurants is a 15-minute walk away in Polanco or Condesa.

The hotel's wellness offering is limited to a fitness centre accessible for a fee. For outdoor activities, Chapultepec Park and the Bosque de Chapultepec are within a short walk, offering jogging paths, boating, museums, and cultural sites.

The 24-hour reception provides round-the-clock check-in and security-a guard is present at all times to open the front door. Luggage storage is free and available before check-in and after check-out. Safety features include CCTV in common areas, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and safety deposit boxes in the rooms. A stroller is available for families, and baby safety gates can be provided. The hotel is wheelchair accessible, with toilets featuring grab rails. Pets are allowed on request (600 MXN per pet, max 2), with pet bowls and beds. Housekeeping is not automatic; to have the room cleaned, a tip is expected. Free Wi-Fi works well in all areas.
