Hotel Details

Location

Located on a quiet street directly opposite Château Frontenac and the Jardin des Gouverneurs, in the heart of Old Quebec.
The hotel sits on a heritage row at 9 Avenue Ste-Geneviève, one block from the Dufferin Terrace and the Saint Lawrence River. Château Frontenac is across the street, and Notre-Dame Basilica, the Citadelle, and the Old Port are within a 5-10 minute walk. Many museums, restaurants, pubs, cafes, and shops are clustered in the surrounding historic district. The American Consulate is around the corner. The Québec City Jean-Lesage Airport is a 20-minute taxi ride away (approximately CAD 35). The main bus depot and train station are about 1 km away in Lower Town, and a taxi to the train station costs about CAD 6. For those arriving by car, public parking is available at a lot behind the hotel (5 minutes walk) or at the city hall garage (10 minutes walk). The immediate area is very walkable, but note that Old Quebec has steep hills and steps, which may be challenging for some travellers.

Accommodation

14 rooms ranging from compact Small Doubles to spacious multi-level Suites, furnished with antique-style pieces and modern amenities.
Room sizes vary dramatically by category. The Small Double (17 m², one queen bed) is very compact and may be cramped for two people with luggage. It includes air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a mini fridge, and a private bathroom with shower (some have a freestanding bathtub in the bedroom). Larger options include a Family Room (28 m², one queen and one double bed) with a kitchenette (microwave), desk, and patio access. The Deluxe Suite (two floors) features a kitchenette, living room with fireplace, balcony with river or park views, and a bath and shower. The Condo also offers a kitchenette. All rooms have hardwood floors, tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer, ironing board, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have a balcony. The building has three floors and no elevator; some rooms (e.g., the Family Room) are only accessible by stairs. A few rooms offer views of the Château Frontenac, the river, or the park. Noise from neighbours and plumbing is occasionally noted, and some rooms have had reports of musty smells, which can be improved by opening windows.

Dining

No on-site restaurant, bar, or breakfast service. Rooms include a coffee/tea tray and mini fridge.
The hotel does not operate a restaurant, bar, or breakfast service. Each room is equipped with a coffee maker (Keurig or similar), tea/coffee supplies, a mini fridge, and a hair dryer. For meals, the surrounding area offers a wide variety of dining options within a short walk-including restaurants such as Au 1884, Le Lapin Saute, and Restaurant Parmesan, all within 0.5 km. Many cafes, sidewalk cafes, and bars are also concentrated in the district. Those staying in the Family Room, Condo, or Suite have a kitchenette (microwave, toaster; no stove), which allows for basic meal preparation.

Wellness and Leisure

No pool, spa, or fitness centre on site. The hotel's historic character and outdoor terrace provide a quiet base.
The property does not have a swimming pool, spa, or wellness centre. A small garden and a terrace are available for guest use. The surrounding area offers walking access to the Dufferin Terrace, the Plains of Abraham, the Citadelle, and numerous parks. For leisure activities, the hotel is well positioned for the Quebec Winter Carnival and other festivals and cultural events in Old Quebec. The main leisure value comes from exploring the historic district, shopping, and dining on foot, rather than from on-site facilities.

Facilities and Services

Limited-hours reception, luggage storage, multilingual staff, free Wi-Fi, and paid off-site parking. No elevator or pets allowed.
Reception operates from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM; late arrivals after 9 PM can use a lockbox system. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability and must be requested in advance. Luggage storage is available for early arrivals. The property has three floors and no elevator; some rooms are only accessible by narrow stairs. The staff speak French, English, and Mandarin. Parking is not on-site but is available at a nearby church lot (CAD 25 per day, 5-minute walk) or the city hall garage (CAD 18 per day, 10-minute walk). A few free on-street spaces exist but are very limited. Wi-Fi is free in all areas. Pets are not allowed. Room service (limited hours) is available. The building is non-smoking, but smoking is permitted in the courtyard. Bikes can be stored in a locked backyard. For guests with reduced mobility, the hotel is not fully accessible due to steps at the entrance and no elevator.

Top Strategic Tips

  • 01

Request a specific room type by name (e.g., Family Room, Suite) when booking, as some rooms are significantly larger and better equipped than the standard Small Double.

  • 02

Factor in the CAD 25 per day public parking cost at a lot 5 minutes from the hotel, and plan to drop luggage first before parking.

  • 03

Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper, as soundproofing between rooms is minimal and noise from neighbours and plumbing can be heard.

  • 04

Arrange luggage assistance in advance if you have heavy bags, as there is no elevator and you may need to climb up to 65 narrow stairs.
