NATIONAL HOTEL, London

The hotel is situated in a safe, pleasant residential area of Muswell Hill, within easy walking distance of Alexandra Palace - a major venue for concerts and events. Public transport is accessible: a bus stop is a few minutes away, and the nearest tube station is a 20-25 minute walk. The area offers a variety of shops, bars, and restaurants within a few minutes' walk, including Cote Brasserie and several cafes. Central London is a 30-40 minute bus ride or a short journey by tube. Free off-site parking is a significant advantage for those arriving by car in this part of London.

Rooms at the National Hotel are functional and budget-oriented, with essential amenities like a kettle, tea and coffee, and a television. Sizes vary, with some single, double, twin, and triple rooms available, some of which are described as spacious. However, room conditions are inconsistent: some have been reported as clean and comfortable, while others have issues with cleanliness (stained bedding, dirty carpets), maintenance (broken showers, no hot water, poor drainage), and age (dated decor, worn furniture). Noise insulation is poor, and the heating is centrally controlled, leading to temperature-related complaints. Rooms may have en-suite or shared bathrooms; the shared facilities have been noted to sometimes lack proper handwashing sinks. The hotel is better suited for short, budget-conscious stays where location is the priority rather than room quality.

The complimentary continental breakfast consists of toast, cereal, tea, and coffee. A full English breakfast (bacon, eggs, sausages, beans) can be purchased, though its quality and availability have been noted as inconsistent. The breakfast room is described as tidy, and the staff are generally friendly. The surrounding area offers numerous dining options within a short walk, including restaurants, cafes, and pubs, which provide a wider variety for those seeking a more substantial or reliable meal.
