NEW CROSS INN HOSTEL, London

The hostel sits directly above a music venue, meaning loud music is a nightly occurrence until around 1 a.m. Street noise is also significant even with windows closed. The area itself has been described as rough, with groups gathering outside the entrance. Public transport via bus and subway is available, though the city centre is a considerable distance away. The train station is nearby, making rail access feasible. Free public parking is available on-nearby without reservation.

Room descriptions match a very basic standard. Multiple reports highlight pervasive noise from the music venue below, with rooms vibrating from bass. The lack of air conditioning makes rooms oppressively hot, especially in warmer months; opening windows brings in smoke from the street. Cleanliness is a major concern: rooms and common areas have been described as filthy, with dirty sheets, dust, and medical waste found. Bedbugs have been a recurring issue. Beds are often uncomfortable, with hard mattresses. Some rooms have a glowing green light that remains on all night. Room doors have basic security, and staff may enter without notice.
