OLD POWDER HOUSE INN, St. Augustine

The Old Powder House Inn sits about 200 meters from St. George Street and a 5-minute walk from Castillo de San Marcos and Flagler College. Free private parking on site means you can park the car and explore the historic district entirely on foot. Numerous restaurants, bars, and shops are within a few blocks, and boating activities are available nearby. Note that Cordova Street can be busy, with traffic noise persisting into the night, especially on weekends.

Double rooms at the inn include a private bathroom with bath, shower, hairdryer, and free toiletries, along with a wardrobe and heating. Some rooms have a deep soaking tub or jacuzzi. Rooms are individually themed, and some offer a porch or veranda, but none have a private balcony. A few street-facing rooms may experience traffic noise, while upstairs rooms (including the Serenity Room) require climbing stairs. The property is old, and some rooms may show signs of wear, but they are consistently described as clean and comfortable.

Breakfast at the inn is included and prepared fresh daily, offering items such as breakfast casserole, banana French toast, frittatas, fresh fruit, yogurt, biscuits, and sweet breads. Special diet menus are available on request, and the breakfast has been described as substantial and homemade. There is no restaurant or bar on site, but complimentary wine, champagne, and snacks (including cookies) are available throughout the day in the common areas. Numerous dining options are within a 5-minute walk, including The Floridian and Collage Restaurant.
