OSTELLO ALFIERI 2, Turin

The hostel is located in a quiet residential area about 25 minutes' walk or a short bus ride from the city centre. Bus 56 (stop right at the gate) runs to Porta Susa metro station and the main train station. From Turin Airport, take the bus to the centre and then bus 56 to the door. The Mole Antonelliana is 6 km away, and the Allianz Juventus Stadium is 7 km. Several restaurants, supermarkets, and a pizzeria are within a 5-minute walk, making it practical for self-catering stays. The neighbourhood feels safe during the day, though some have noted it feels less secure at night.

Private rooms offer comfortable single beds, a desk, and a large bathroom with a shower and hairdryer. Dormitories (6 to 8 beds) feature two en-suite toilets and a private shower room, which reduces morning queues. Each bed has its own socket, a reading light, and a personal locker big enough for a backpack. Rooms on the ground floor or near the main entrance can experience noise from the front door vibrating. The air conditioning has been reported as non-functional during summer months, so if you are sensitive to heat, plan accordingly. Bedding is included; towels are rented separately. The triple rooms are private, not shared.

The breakfast is a basic Italian-style buffet with bread, pastries, butter, jam, cereal, yogurt, fruit, and a daily homemade cake. It is largely sweet, with few savoury options. For those who need more, the shared kitchen is open all day for self-catering. Unlimited hot drinks from the machine are available around the clock. Several restaurants and pizzerias are within a short walk, including Ortiga (pizza) and Circolo Vizioso, offering alternatives for lunch or dinner. Packaged foods and produce can be bought at nearby supermarkets like Lidl and Bennet.

The property features a green courtyard garden and a large lounge with seating, books, and board games, ideal for relaxing after a day out. The games room offers activities like table football, and the hostel regularly organises evening entertainment such as pub crawls, walking tours, movie nights, and live music. Bike tours and hiking are also possible, though hiking comes at an additional charge. The area is quiet by night, so you can expect a restful sleep in the common areas as well.

Wi-Fi is available in all areas at no cost. The shared kitchen has multiple stoves, a dishwasher, fridge, and all necessary cookware. A laundry room with washing and drying machines and an iron is available for use. Luggage can be stored in a secure locker after check-out, and the same code system works for all doors, which some have noted reduces privacy as the code is shared. Safety features include CCTV outside, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers. Pets are allowed on request with no extra charge, and pet bowls are provided. The reception staff are friendly and responsive via WhatsApp outside office hours.
