PACIFIC SPIRIT HOSTEL, Vancouver

The hostel is at 1935 Lower Mall within the University of British Columbia. It is a 7-minute walk from the UBC Museum of Anthropology and 180 m from Nitobe Memorial Garden. The UBC bus exchange is a 15-20 minute walk and provides direct bus routes to downtown Vancouver and other parts of the city. Wreck Beach is a 5-15 minute walk. Campus grounds are quiet and surrounded by trees, with grocery stores, cafés, and restaurants nearby.

Rooms are basic but clean and functional. Each room has a single bed, a work desk, a closet, bed linens, and towels. Bathrooms are shared and located on the same floor. Some rooms have poor ventilation and a musty carpet smell. Windows can be opened. Noise from slamming doors and hallway activity can be an issue, especially for light sleepers. Rooms facing quiet parts of the campus are generally quieter. Mattresses can be firm and dated. Fans can be borrowed from the front desk.

The hostel does not have a restaurant. A shared kitchen is available on each floor with a fridge, microwave, and kettle, but no stove, oven, or cooking supplies. Plates, cups, and cutlery can be purchased at the front desk. Several dining options are within a 5-minute walk on campus, including Triple O's, Koerner's Pub, Sage Bistro, and The Point Grill. A Tim Hortons is 1 km away. Grocery stores and a variety of campus eateries are also nearby.

Wellness and leisure amenities include access to a tennis court and tennis equipment at no extra cost. A beach is accessible but may involve an additional charge. There is no swimming pool or spa on site. The surrounding UBC campus offers beautiful green spaces, gardens, and walking trails. Wreck Beach is within walking distance. Board games are available for use.

Wi-Fi is free in rooms and throughout the property. The 24-hour front desk can handle late check-ins. Luggage storage is available on both check-in and check-out days for same-day use only. Laundry facilities are available for an additional charge. A shared lounge/TV area is provided. Vending machines for drinks and snacks are on site.
