SANDMAN HOTEL & SUITES CALGARY SOUTH, Calgary

The hotel sits in a busy shopping district with Walmart, Superstore, Costco, and T&T Market all within walking distance or a very short drive. Deerfoot Meadows Shopping Center is a 5-minute drive away, offering a variety of shops and entertainment. The RCGA Golf Center is 2 km from the property. While the location is car-friendly with ample free parking, it is not within walking distance of downtown Calgary. For car-free travel, a tram stop is nearby, providing practical access to the city centre. The property's position right off Highway 2 makes it a strategic base for those travelling between Calgary and areas to the south.

The hotel offers a variety of room types including standard rooms, family rooms, and suites. Many suites feature full kitchens with stovetop, refrigerator, dishwasher, and dining area, while others have kitchenettes. Some suites also include a washer and dryer, which is practical for longer stays. The bathrooms in all rooms are private, with a bath and shower, and some suites offer bathrobes and free toiletries. While the rooms are designed to be functional, the property shows significant wear and tear. Issues such as stained carpets, worn furniture, and aging bathroom fixtures have been noted. For a more comfortable stay, consider requesting a room that has been recently updated, as conditions can vary between rooms. The overall atmosphere is described as quiet, even when the hotel is busy with sports teams.

The indoor swimming pool is heated and open year-round from 7 AM to 11 PM. A hot tub is also available. The fitness centre is free for guests. While these facilities are available and appreciated, the condition of the hot tub jets has been inconsistent; it is worth checking with the front desk if the hot tub is fully operational during your stay. The pool area gets busy at times but is a good option for families to unwind. There is no spa on the property.

Free public parking is available on site with no reservation needed, and the lot also includes accessible parking and a parking garage. The business centre is free to use, and meeting or banquet facilities are available for an additional charge. The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk and express check-in/check-out. Daily housekeeping is provided on request; it is not automatic. The property is wheelchair accessible with features such as a low bathroom sink, raised toilet, grab rails, and Braille signage. Other services include room service, a shared lounge/TV area, vending machines, safety deposit box, and 24-hour security. For those travelling with pets, the policy allows them by request for a nightly fee of $15 per pet.
