WARFIELD HOTEL, San Francisco

San Francisco International Airport is 18 km away, but the nearest BART station is only two blocks from the hotel, making airport travel easy by rail without a car. The area around the hotel is dense with homeless activity and street drug use, which continues day and night. Pedestrians should expect noise, loud music, and occasional aggressive behavior on the sidewalk. The location is excellent for attending shows or conferences at Moscone Center (a 10-15 minute walk) and is close to many dining options including John's Grill, Dottie's True Blue Cafe, and Mikkeller Bar. Walking from the hotel to Union Square is quick and generally safe during daylight, though caution is advised after dark.

Breakfast consists of bread for toast, packaged pastries, butter, coffee, and bananas. There is no hot buffet or cooked options. Lobby coffee includes an espresso machine that makes cappuccinos and macchiatos. The hotel does not have a full restaurant or bar. For a wider selection, numerous cafes and restaurants are within a five-minute walk, including Dottie's True Blue Cafe (0.5 km) and Mikkeller Bar (0.5 km). Given the limited breakfast offering, guests who want a full hot breakfast should plan to eat out.

The front desk is staffed around the clock, and check-in is possible even at 1:00 AM. Luggage storage is free and useful for early arrivals or late departures. The building has an elevator, though it has experienced outages. Security features include key card access, CCTV, and a 24-hour security system. The lobby is locked, and guests must be buzzed in, adding a layer of safety. Daily housekeeping is available, but it must be requested; it is not automatic. The property does not have a business center, but free fax/photocopying is available. An ATM is located on site, and cash is accepted for payment. Accepted cards include American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. The overall service flow is straightforward for a budget hotel, but the lack of parking and shuttle means that a car is not practical here.
