HEIKOTEL - HOTEL WINDSOR, Hamburg

The hotel is located in a residential area about 10 minutes by taxi from Hamburg Airport. A bus stop sits directly in front of the entrance, providing frequent services to the city centre (approx. 20-30 minutes) and key landmarks. The nearest S-Bahn station is about a 10-minute walk, and major attractions like the Reeperbahn are reachable by public transport in about 25 minutes. While the immediate surroundings are not considered the liveliest, guests found the area relatively quiet and the transport links practical for exploring the city. Parking is also straightforward, with both paid on-site and free street options available.

The accommodation ranges from compact standard doubles (some as small as 14 m2) to large Superior and Premium rooms which offer extra space and are equipped with a spa bath or whirlpool. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV, mini-bar, coffee machine (capsules at €1), and carpeted flooring. Soundproofing is effective when windows are closed, but street-facing rooms can be noisy with the window open. The bathrooms are generally functional but some standard rooms have very compact showers. Select rooms provide views of the construction site next door, so quiet room requests are advisable.

The breakfast buffet is served in a dedicated area and is widely considered a highlight, offering a comprehensive selection including hot items and special diet menus on request. The cost is €18 per person and is seen as good value by most, though some felt it was a notable extra cost. The hotel does not operate an à la carte restaurant or bar for lunch or dinner, so guests need to plan other meals. Several supermarkets (within 200 m) and a few local eateries are within walking distance for evening dining options.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the property and is free of charge, though some rooms have weaker signals. The reception is open from 07:00 to 14:00; after that, a self-check-in machine handles arrivals. Parking is available on-site for €3 per day (must be reserved), and free street parking is also possible. A cot can be provided for families, and pets are allowed on request (charges may apply). The lift provides easy access to all floors, and the hotel is non-smoking throughout with soundproof rooms. Express check-in/out and a safety deposit box are included, while coffee capsules in the room cost €1 each.
