HOTEL ABACO, Florence

The location is the property's strongest asset, with the Duomo reachable in about 5 minutes on foot and the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio in about 10 minutes. The train station is a short walk, making it convenient for arrivals and departures. The surrounding area is packed with restaurants, cafés, and shops, with seven options within 0.5 km. The hotel sits in a ZTL zone, so driving requires planning; the nearby Giglio garage (€28/day) is the recommended parking solution. The cobbled streets and central position mean walking is the best way to navigate the city.

Breakfast is served between 7:45 and 9:30 and includes traditional Italian coffee or cappuccino, freshly baked croissants, bread rolls, jam, butter, and pancake. The breakfast room is also used as a common area and can be noisy. For those needing an early start, the staff can prepare breakfast earlier if arranged. There is no restaurant or bar on site, but the location means dozens of restaurants and cafés are within a few minutes' walk. Coffee house on site and wine/champagne (additional charge) are available.

The hotel does not have a pool, spa, or gym. For leisure, Florence's main museums, galleries, and historic landmarks are all within a short walk. The property can arrange bike rentals (additional charge), walking tours, and bike tours, and there is a minimarket and barber/beauty shop nearby. Cycling is popular in the area (off-site).

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. Luggage storage is free before check-in and after check-out, which is very useful for exploring the city without luggage. Daily housekeeping is included; laundry (self-serve machines nearby) and ironing service are available for an additional charge. The airport shuttle runs on request and at an extra cost. Parking is private, off-site, and costs €28 per day at a nearby garage (no reservation needed). The hotel accepts Visa, Maestro, CartaSi, and MasterCard. The staff are described as friendly and helpful, but English is limited. The hotel is on the second floor with no lift - 40-55 steep stairs must be climbed. There is no 24-hour reception; the building is effectively unattended after 20:00. Safety features include 24-hour security, fire extinguishers, and smoke alarms.
