The immediate surrounding streets contain a high concentration of people sleeping rough, street drinking, and open drug use both day and night, which affects the sense of safety when entering or leaving the building, especially after dark or for families with children. The area is lively but gritty; it is best treated as a purely practical base for transit-based city exploration.

Room types range from single, triple, and quadruple rooms to larger one-bedroom apartments with separate living and sleeping areas. All units have a private bathroom, a kitchen or kitchenette (with refrigerator, stovetop, and basic utensils), a seating area with a dining table, and a flat-screen TV with cable channels. Some apartments span two levels and include two bathrooms, making them practical for families or groups.
