ADMIRAL FARRAGUT INN, Newport

The inn is located less than 1 km from Bellevue Avenue and an 18-minute walk to King Park Beach. Nearby attractions include the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Rosecliff Mansion. The historic heart of Newport is also within a short stroll, placing the inn in a top-rated walkable area. For those driving, free on-site parking is available, though the parking lot can be tight; arriving in a compact car is recommended. The location suits travellers who want to explore Newport on foot and avoid driving to most attractions.

The inn offers king, queen, and twin-bedded rooms, all with private bathrooms and air conditioning. Rooms on lower floors are generally more spacious, while attic or third-floor rooms can feel small with limited seating and very compact bathrooms. Some rooms have limited wardrobe space and no in-room fridge (available on request). Noise can be an issue due to thin walls; light sleepers should request a quieter room or bring earplugs. Cleanliness reports are inconsistent - some find rooms clean and charming, while others report dust, musty smells, or mold. The property is an old building with rustic character, but maintenance varies, so confirming the specific room condition in advance is advisable.

Breakfast is served in the inn's dining room and includes a made-to-order hot dish such as French toast or omelettes, plus coffee and juice. Options are limited compared to larger hotels, with no buffet or cereal bar. Breakfast orders must be placed at check-in or the previous evening; the kitchen can accommodate special requests if communicated directly to the cook. Since the inn has no restaurant, guests rely on the many dining options within a short walk. For those wanting a quick bite, nearby choices include Panini Grill, Mori, and Sumo Sushi, all within 0.5 km. The breakfast quality receives consistent praise, though portion sizes can be modest.
