AHORN HOTEL, Munich

The hotel sits in a quiet area on the western outskirts of Munich, a short 2-minute walk from Blutenburg Castle and the Am Durchblick Gardens. Obermenzing S-Bahn station is a 10-minute walk, offering regular services to the city centre in around 10 minutes. The Munich Exhibition Centre is a 15-minute drive away, and the motorway connection makes it convenient for car travellers. A bus stop is right by the hotel, and a bakery, KFC, and a supermarket are within easy walking distance, but the immediate surroundings also include a gas station and a car wash, which can create daytime noise. Parking is free in the underground garage, but the garage is dark and could benefit from renovation.

Rooms are advertised as spacious and come with cable TV, a tea and coffee maker, and a private balcony or terrace with garden views. Each unit can have up to five single beds, making them practical for families. However, bathrooms are shared, not private, and are often described as small and dated. Cleanliness reports vary widely, with some finding rooms clean and others reporting dust, stains, and insects. Noise can be an issue: the hotel is described as not very soundproof, and the balcony overlooks a gas station and car wash, causing daytime and sometimes nighttime noise. There is no air conditioning, and rooms rely on radiators which may not heat sufficiently in colder months. Some rooms lack curtains for blackout, and several have reported broken blinds, non-working TVs, and insufficient lighting.

When offered, a Bavarian-style breakfast buffet is served in a bright breakfast room. Availability depends on the time of booking and the season, so guests should confirm directly whether breakfast is active. The bar provides a range of beers and wines for evening drinks. For other meals, there is no on-site restaurant but a good bakery across the street, a KFC opposite, and several restaurants within 0.5 km, including Greek and Italian options. The coffee house on site offers coffee, and rooms have an electric kettle with instant coffee sticks.
