Bryant Park, the New York Public Library, and the ice-skating rink are all within a 15-minute walk. Public transport is efficient - many attractions are reachable without a car.

Room sizes are small and some face an internal wall, resulting in no natural light. Double rooms have a double and a single bed; twin rooms have one bed (typically a bunk). Beds can be firm and occasionally squeaky. Air conditioning is provided but can be noisy. Windows may not open fully. Shared bathrooms are cleaned daily, with a ratio of about 7-8 rooms per bathroom when full. Toilets are very compact; some lack a sink within the same space, so washing hands requires the adjacent shower or room sink. Luggage storage is available. The lack of an elevator means climbing three flights of stairs.

Breakfast runs from 8:00 to 11:00 and is self-serve. The spread includes a variety of fresh fruit (berries, oranges, apples), pastries, bagels, cereal, and yoghurt. Leftover items often remain accessible throughout the day. The shared kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, and basic utensils for guest use. A snack bar offers additional items for purchase. Numerous restaurants and delis are within a 5-minute walk on 3rd Avenue, including Indian, Chinese, and pub options. For those with dietary restrictions, the breakfast selection includes fruit and cereals, but no hot dishes.

The games room provides board games and puzzles for social recreation. The shared lounge/TV area is a comfortable space to relax. For outdoor leisure, the nearby Bryant Park ice-skating rink operates in winter, and rowboating is available at the park's pond. The neighbourhood also has several parks, including Madison Square Park, a short walk away. There is no gym or spa on site.
