HOTEL ANDEL, Prague

Located in the lively Smíchov district, the hotel is well connected by public transport. Anděl metro station (yellow line) and multiple tram lines are within a short walk, allowing access to Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and the Old Town in about 10-15 minutes. The area offers a shopping centre, supermarkets (Albert, Tesco), many cafés, pubs, restaurants, and a brewery pub. The Vltava river is a 10-minute walk away, with a pleasant route into the centre. Street-facing rooms may experience traffic and tram noise during the day, but closed windows effectively block most sound. On-site parking is very limited; public parking is available off-site and must be reserved in advance for €20 per day.

The hotel offers single, double and triple rooms. Many rooms are spacious, with some including a sofa or seating area, but certain rooms are notably small. Beds are often two single beds pushed together rather than a single large mattress, and some beds have a tendency to slide on the floor. Double-bed requests are not always guaranteed. Room furnishing is functional and clean, but styles vary and some rooms show wear. Rooms facing the inner courtyard are quieter; those facing the street hear traffic and trams with windows open. WiFi signal is not reliable on higher floors (especially the 3rd floor and above). Air conditioning is not included in the standard rate and costs 50-200 CZK per day when available. Many rooms have good blackout curtains, a work desk, and storage. Bathrooms are generally clean, though a few have dated fittings, low water pressure, or shower water pooling on the floor. Daily housekeeping focuses on bed-making and bin-emptying; trash removal and towel/linen changes require a request at reception.

Breakfast is served in a small dining area. The buffet is continental-style, with a good selection of breads, pastries, cold meats, cheese, fruit, and hot options such as scrambled eggs and sausages. Hot drinks and several juice options are available. The selection is considered adequate for the price, though the format is simple and does not vary daily. The hotel does not operate a restaurant or bar for other meals, but the surrounding Smíchov area has numerous casual and sit-down dining options within a 2-10 minute walk - including pizzerias, Asian restaurants, a brewery pub, and cafés. Breakfast timings otherwise suit early departures, and the staff can arrange a packed breakfast if checking out before the breakfast start time.

The hotel offers free WiFi in the lobby and public areas, but the signal is inconsistent in guest rooms, especially on the 3rd floor and above. Luggage storage is available free of charge for early arrivals or late departures. A safety deposit box and a shared lounge/TV area are provided. Daily housekeeping is limited to making the bed and emptying bins; guests needing thorough cleaning, towel changes, or bin removal from the bathroom should ask at reception. A fax/photocopying service and a tour desk are available. The hotel has a lift, facilities for disabled guests, and allergy-free, non-smoking, and soundproof rooms. A currency exchange and concierge service are also available.
