Buses 4, 34 and 44 run every 15 minutes from the stop outside the door, costing only £2 each way and reaching the centre in about 15 minutes. Edinburgh Waverley station is 5 km away; a taxi from Haymarket station takes about 10 minutes. For walking, the city centre is a pleasant stroll. Local shops, pubs and restaurants are within a few minutes' walk.

All rooms share two bathrooms (with hot showers) and are located on the first floor with no lift. Bedding includes blackout curtains in some rooms. The double rooms have 1 bed; family rooms have 2 beds. The single room offers 1 bed. Each room includes a flat-screen TV, electric kettle, wardrobe and work desk. Heating and carpeted floors are standard. While the facilities are basic, the rooms are consistently described as spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds and a quiet atmosphere suitable for a good night's sleep.
