BEST WESTERN GATEWAY GRAND, Gainesville

Located directly off Interstate 75, the hotel provides easy highway access for road trips and is a practical base for visiting Santa Fe College (3 km), the University of Florida, and the Florida Museum of Natural History (both within a 15-minute drive). Devil's Millhopper Geological State Park is 10 km away. The immediate area is quiet and car-friendly; restaurants, a grocery store, and a pharmacy are a few minutes' drive. The free airport shuttle serves Gainesville Airport and local medical offices, making the location suitable for medical visits. Walkability is limited, but the attached restaurant and nearby Dunkin' Donuts (0.5 km) cover basic needs without driving.

Rooms are notably large and include a separate sitting area in many configurations. Each room is equipped with cable TV, in-room coffee, a microwave, refrigerator, and a clock radio. Bed options include king, queen, and full XL (narrower than standard queen). Some suites feature a balcony, a living/dining area, and a hot tub. The property is older and many rooms show signs of wear: dated furniture, worn carpets, and occasionally mold in bathroom grout. Air conditioning can be noisy and inconsistent, particularly in older window units. Noise from hallway traffic and service doors may affect rooms near elevators or employee areas. Sunlight can enter early in some rooms due to light-weight curtains. For a quieter stay, request a room away from the elevator and service areas. Suites offer better value for extra space.

Breakfast is included and features a generous buffet with hot items, fresh fruit, pastries, juices, and coffee. The standout is the made-to-order omelet station, which adds a fresh-cooked option. Breakfast is served daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM, and until 10:00 AM on weekends. Gators Den Grille and Bar offers a full menu of classic American dishes, including seafood, burgers, and a full bar. Dinner service runs from 16:00 to 22:00 on weekdays, with extended hours on weekends until 23:00. Happy hour and live sport broadcasts are available. The restaurant is convenient for evening meals, with a welcoming sports-bar atmosphere. A children's menu and special diet options are available on request.

The outdoor pool is open year-round, with a shallow end and a pool with a view. Sun loungers, beach umbrellas, and pool towels are provided. The hot tub is a popular feature, though its availability can vary. The fitness centre is compact but free and includes basic equipment. A minibar and vending machines for drinks and snacks are also available. The leisure area is well-suited for a relaxing end to a travel day, but note that the pool and hot tub remain open until 10:00 PM, so evening use is welcome.

Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas. Parking is free and ample, accommodating cars, trucks, semi-trailers, and campers; no reservation is needed. The free airport shuttle covers Gainesville Airport and local medical offices, but requires a minimum 24-hour notice and a call to the property (352-331-3336). The 24-hour front desk offers express check-in/check-out, luggage storage, and an ATM on site. A business centre with fax/photocopying and meeting/banquet facilities is available for a fee. The hotel is fully accessible with wheelchair access, emergency cords in bathrooms, and lower sinks in accessible rooms. Laundry facilities (washer and dryer) are available for a small fee. Pets are allowed with possible charges, and a designated pet area with waste bags is provided. Key card access and CCTV ensure security.
