CASTEL ENCHANTE, Nice

Castel Enchanté sits on a private road in the hills above Nice, offering views over Estienne d'Orves park. The city centre and beach are 3 km away - a pleasant downhill walk of about 25-30 minutes, but the return is steep and tiring. The nearest bus stop (Emmanuel) is 600 metres down the hill, served by lines 64 and 75 every 20-35 minutes, which connect to Nice Ville Train Station in about 10 minutes. Uber is abundant and inexpensive for the short trip back. Nice Airport is a 10-minute drive, the A8 motorway is 15 minutes away. A car is strongly recommended for exploring the hilltop villages of Provence within 20-30 km. Several restaurants and pizzerias are within 1-2 km, including La Locanda (1 km) and Brother's Burger Bar (1 km).

Rooms at Castel Enchanté are furnished in a classic Provencal style, each with a private bathroom and a view of the garden. Accommodation options range from a 38 m2 family suite with a double bed and an adjoining veranda with two single beds, to a double room with a small private terrace and direct access to the swimming pool. All rooms include an electric kettle, tea and coffee facilities, a flat-screen TV, and heated parquet flooring. Family rooms can accommodate an extra person on a sofa bed for an additional cost. Balconies are not available, but some rooms feature their own patio or terrace. Rooms are notably quiet and comfortable, with good air conditioning that is especially appreciated during summer. The largest rooms offer generous space and a seating area. Daily housekeeping is included free of charge.

Breakfast at Castel Enchanté is included in the room rate and is served outside on a furnished terrace overlooking the valley. The owner Alberto prepares a different selection of local French specialities each morning, including fresh pastries, breads, cheeses, and fruit. Gluten-free alternatives are available upon prior request. Coffee and tea are included. The breakfast is consistently described as generous and excellent, and is a highlight of the stay. There is no restaurant or bar on site, but the room has a fridge and electric kettle for self-catering, and several restaurants are within a 1-2 km drive. For those arriving early, breakfast is served from 07:30.

The outdoor swimming pool is the centrepiece of the garden, offering a quiet and relaxing spot with a view of the surrounding hills. It is unheated and only open from 1 April, with a protective fence and pool/beach towels provided. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for lounging. For active guests, there is a free table tennis table. The garden itself is well maintained with blooming flowers and outdoor furniture, providing multiple places to sit quietly. There is no spa or wellness centre on site.

The property offers free Wi-Fi access in all public areas. Free private parking is available on site but requires advance reservation due to limited spaces. Daily housekeeping is included at no extra charge. A cot (baby bed) can be provided for families, and family rooms are available. The owners live on site and can give personalised recommendations for regional activities and restaurants. There is no lift, no 24-hour reception, and no luggage storage service confirmed for after check-out. Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas.
