CLARIN HOTEL, Rome

The hotel is situated on a side street near Via Nazionale, putting major sights within walking distance - Colosseum, Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain are all reachable on foot in 10-20 minutes. Termini Station is 5-10 minutes away, providing rail and metro connections across Rome and to the airports. Bus lines H and 64 stop nearby on Via Nazionale, offering direct routes to Vatican City and other districts. The immediate area is lively with many cafes, restaurants and a supermarket, making it practical for self-catering and dining out. The street itself is relatively quiet for central Rome, but road-facing rooms still pick up some traffic noise, especially at night.

Room sizes are generally small, and some twin beds are pushed together to form a double. Windows in some rooms have old wooden frames that do not close fully, letting in street noise and cold drafts; rooms facing the inner courtyard are quieter. A few rooms have windows that open only onto an internal light shaft. Bathrooms are small, with some having low water pressure in the shower and occasional drainage odours. Air conditioning is available but can be noisy. A safety deposit box, minibar/fridge and free toiletries are provided. Some rooms feature a private external bathroom (sharing facilities with others). Housekeeping is daily, and bed configuration should be confirmed at booking.

Breakfast is a light continental spread including croissants, bread, jam, cheese and cold meats, plus unlimited espresso or cappuccino. The selection is basic but sufficient for starting the day. For those wanting a wider or hotter option, several cafes and restaurants are within a 3-minute walk on surrounding streets. The hotel also offers a coffee house on site, and breakfast can be served in the room. The dining room is small, so service can feel cramped during peak times; staff are generally friendly and helpful.

The spa area includes a steam room, a lounge area and relaxation space, and offers a range of spa/wellness packages and massage treatments. These services are available at an extra cost and can be a practical way to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The hotel also provides temporary art galleries, adding a cultural touch to the common areas.

Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas, although the signal is strongest in the lobby and often weak or intermittent in rooms; paid in-room Wi-Fi is available for a fee. A 24-hour front desk means someone is always on hand to assist with check-ins, questions and luggage storage after check-out (luggage is kept in the reception area, not a locked room). Daily housekeeping is included, and laundry and ironing services can be arranged for an extra charge. Airport shuttle and general shuttle services are available for an additional fee. The hotel has a lift, designated smoking area and non-smoking rooms. Safety features include CCTV, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and a safety deposit box. Pets are allowed on request with possible charges.
