The Sherbourne subway station is literally across the street, providing direct access to downtown and beyond. Many restaurants are within 0.5 km, offering cuisines from Indian to roti. The area is safe but standard big-city awareness is advised. For drivers, on-site parking is available for $17 per night, but the lot is small; using the subway is often more convenient. The distance to the Royal Ontario Museum is a 20-minute walk, and the Eaton Centre and theatre district are within walking distance (around 1 hour on foot) or a short cab ride.

The hotel occupies a Victorian mansion with later additions, resulting in a mix of old and new. Renovated rooms on the upper floors feature contemporary furniture, flat-screen TVs, rainfall showers, and comfortable beds. Some mansion suites include working fireplaces and jacuzzi tubs. Older rooms may have worn carpets and dated decor; basement rooms lack windows and can be noisy. Closets are generous. Refrigerators and microwaves are not standard but can be provided upon request. The elevator is small with a manual gate, making luggage transport tricky; stairs are often easier. Light sleepers should request a room away from the elevator to minimise noise.

The breakfast buffet runs from 7 to 10 AM in a basement dining room. The spread includes items such as croissants, bagels, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, and fruit. Disposable plates and cutlery are used. While the selection is basic, it is included in the room rate. For more substantial or hot meals, many restaurants are within a two-block radius on Bloor and Yonge Streets, including Eggsmart across the street (open until 3 PM) and other diverse options within 0.5 km.

The fitness centre is located in the basement and contains three exercise machines. It is far from state-of-the-art but can serve light workouts. Karaoke is offered as an additional leisure option.
