COMFORT INN HALIFAX - BEDFORD BASIN, Halifax

Situated on the Bedford Highway, the hotel is 3 km from Kearney Lake Beach and 10 km from the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site. Dalhousie University and the Halifax Commons are nearby. A bus route runs directly in front of the property, providing car-free access to the city centre. The parking lot is free and on-site, and the surrounding area offers restaurants, supermarkets, and shops within a 5-10 minute drive. A walking trail behind the hotel is ideal for dog walks.

Room sizes vary from compact standard rooms to spacious suites with separate living areas and two queen beds. Renovated rooms feature new bedding, updated bathrooms, and better lighting. However, some older rooms have dated decor, stained carpets, or musty odors. Ground-floor units near the lobby may experience noise and food smells from breakfast. For light sleepers, rooms away from the road and lobby are quieter - the train line across the street can be heard with open windows. Air conditioning is installed but in some layouts only effectively cools the bedroom. Bathrooms are small in standard rooms; walk-in showers are available in renovated suites. The front porch provides an outdoor seating area with basin views.

The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausages, ham, tater tots, waffles, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, toast, and juices. The breakfast room offers a view of the bay but has limited seating, and the hot food can occasionally run low during peak hours. There is no on-site restaurant or bar for lunch or dinner, but several casual dining options are within a short drive. Coffee and tea are available in the rooms. The front porch is a pleasant spot to enjoy morning coffee.

The pool is small and can become crowded; cleanliness has been inconsistent. The fitness centre provides basic exercise equipment. Outside, the hotel has a picnic area with outdoor furniture and a walking trail behind the property. The front porch with chairs is a popular spot to relax and enjoy the view of the Bedford Basin. No spa or jacuzzi is available.
