This hotel sits directly on the coast with panoramic views of La Jolla Cove and the California coast. The beach, sea lions, and cliffs are steps away across the street. Numerous restaurants and cafés are within a 1-5 minute walk, and a grocery store is about 1 km away. UC San Diego is a 15-minute drive, Torrey Pines Golf Course is 15 minutes away, and SeaWorld San Diego is 16 km from the property. The Salk Institute is 8 km away. The area is very walkable for shopping and dining, but the immediate waterfront can have a strong natural odor from the sea lion and bird colony. Guests arriving by car should note that street parking is limited and paid on-site parking is required.

All accommodations feature a private balcony with chairs; many offer direct sea views. Room types range from spacious double rooms and studios to one- and two-bedroom suites with separate living areas and kitchens. The renovated "Pines" section offers modern, clean rooms with high-end finishes, while the original building contains older, dated, and often poorly maintained rooms.
