HOTEL DES GRANDES ECOLES QUARTIER LATIN, Paris

The hotel sits on rue du Cardinal Lemoine in the 5th arrondissement, just steps from Place de la Contrescarpe and Rue Mouffetard. Many sights are within walking distance: the Panthéon (600 m), Notre Dame (900 m), Opéra Bastille (2 km), Pompidou Centre (2 km), and the Louvre (2 km). Cardinal Lemoine metro station (line 10) is 190 m away; Place Monge (line 7) is also nearby. From Orly Airport, take Tramway T7 to Villejuif-Louis Aragon, then metro line 7 to Place Monge. From CDG, take RER B to Châtelet-Les Halles and change. Private parking is available on site (height limit 1.90 m, reservation required, €35/day).

Each room is individually decorated with Jouy print wallpaper, distressed wood furniture, and bronze wall lights. Amenities include a tea/coffee maker, electric kettle, wardrobe, safe, and a private bathroom with hairdryer (some with bathtub, others with shower). Rooms are compact by Paris standards; some may feel small for two people with luggage. Most have either garden views or inner courtyard views - no balconies. Air conditioning is available in the main building. A lift serves all buildings except the one with family rooms (stairs only). Rooms facing the lift or entrance can be noisier; garden-side rooms are very quiet. There is no TV, minibar, or fridge.

Breakfast is a continental buffet with bread, pastries, hot drinks, and juice, served at your table indoors or in the garden when weather permits. The cost is €17 per person; some booking rates may include it. Coffee is particularly well regarded. For other meals, the hotel does not have a restaurant, but reception offers wine and champagne by the glass or bottle. The surrounding area is packed with restaurants, cafés, and boulangeries within a few minutes' walk, including those on Rue Mouffetard and Place de la Contrescarpe.

The leafy courtyard garden is the main leisure asset: it has outdoor furniture, sun umbrellas, and a tranquil atmosphere - a genuine oasis in central Paris. Temporary art galleries are occasionally displayed on site. There is no swimming pool, spa, fitness centre, or other wellness facilities. The garden is open for guests to relax, picnic, or enjoy a drink throughout the day and evening.
