HOTEL DONATELLO, Bologna

The hotel is located in Bologna's historical centre, a 10-minute walk from the railway station and Piazza Maggiore. The area around the hotel is full of restaurants, cafés, bars and shops, and is close to the university district. Great transport links provide quick connection to Bologna's fair district as well as all tourist attractions. Via Indipendenza itself offers many shops and a daily clothes market. Airport transfer: 15 minutes by taxi/car, 30 minutes by bus.

Room sizes vary but many are compact, especially singles which can feel tiny. The furniture and decor is dated and some rooms have old wallpaper which may peel, and bathrooms can be very small - some with a shower over a bath with no curtain or splash panel. Soundproofing is poor: rooms facing the street suffer from constant traffic and siren noise. Rooms at the back of the hotel are significantly quieter. Air conditioning is a central HVAC system; individual thermostat control is not always available, and when summer cooling is switched off the room can be uncomfortably warm. Some rooms have a balcony. Bed preferences should be noted on booking but cannot be guaranteed.

The hotel has a 24-hour front desk with express check-in/check-out. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Luggage storage is free, a valuable service for early arrivals or late departures. Housekeeping is daily; laundry and ironing services are available for a fee. A coffee shop is on site. The building has a lift, though it is very small. Pets are allowed with no extra charge. The hotel is not fully wheelchair accessible - it is an old building with architectural barriers. Parking is available nearby but not on site: public parking costs €24/day, a cheaper €9/day blue-line street ticket can be bought at reception.
