HAMPTON INN CHARLOTTE UNIVERSITY PLACE, Charlotte

The hotel sits within walking distance of UNC Charlotte and the Lynx Blue Line, which runs straight to Uptown Charlotte and Bank of America Stadium (about 16 km). PNC Music Pavilion is 7 km away, Charlotte Motor Speedway 10 km, and Concord Regional Airport 12 km. The Charlotte Convention Center is roughly a 20-minute drive. A wide range of restaurants, including Bojangles', Thai House, and IHOP, are within 0.5 km. While the area is convenient, some incidents have been reported in the parking lot; locking vehicles and securing valuables is recommended.

The property uses older furnishings and some units show wear such as stained carpets or dated wallpaper. Noise from the nearby train, hallways, and loud air-conditioning units can be noticeable; requesting a higher floor away from the elevator and train side improves sleep quality. Some rooms have sofa beds and microwaves. Cleanliness reports vary, so inspecting the room upon arrival and alerting front desk if needed is wise. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, ironing facilities, and alarm clocks.

The breakfast buffet includes hot options such as eggs, bacon, and sausage, along with cereals, yogurt, and fruit. Some find the quality satisfactory, while others note that offerings can be inconsistent. For more variety, more than eight restaurants-including Thai, American, and quick-service options-are within a 5-minute walk. The snack bar offers light refreshments, and the on-site minimarket stocks drinks and essentials.

The pool is fenced for safety and includes a shallow section suitable for children. Sun loungers and pool/beach towels are provided. The fitness centre offers a Peloton bike, treadmills, and a set of dumbbells (5-23 kg). No spa or hot tub is available. The pool is closed during colder months; check ahead if swimming is a priority.

The 24-hour front desk can assist with express check-in/out, ATM/cash machine access, and safety deposit boxes. Daily housekeeping is included, though some rooms have reported inconsistency in thoroughness. A business centre with free fax/photocopying and a meeting room (additional charge) serve corporate needs. The hotel has key card and key access for entry, plus smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. Pets are allowed for a fee; service animals are welcome at no charge. Luggage storage is free for early arrivals or late departures.
