HARBORSIDE INN, Newport

The inn is directly on Newport Harbor, placing you at the heart of the downtown action. Thames Street, with its many restaurants, bars, and shops, is just steps away. Bowen's Wharf is less than a 5-minute walk. Bellevue Avenue and the International Tennis Hall of Fame are 3 blocks away. The Cliff Walk is within 3 km, Easton's Beach is 2 km (a 20-25 minute walk), and Fort Adams State Park is 5 km away. The historic mansions are 1-3 km away. A car is recommended for visiting the mansions, Cliff Walk, and Ocean Drive.

The inn offers 15 rooms and suites. Fourteen have a small balcony. Each unit has a private bathroom, a sitting area with sofa or chairs, air conditioning, heating, a flat-screen TV, and free Wi-Fi. Rooms feature modern coastal decor and are noted for being very clean and comfortable. Some rooms are duplex-style with a loft accessed by a ladder, offering extra space for families. The Captain's Suite includes a soaking tub and heated bathroom floors. Rooms do not have in-room coffee makers, but complimentary coffee, tea, and hot cocoa are available all day in the Harbor Room.

Breakfast includes fresh fruit, baked blueberry muffins, hard-boiled eggs, assorted yogurt, steel-cut oatmeal with toppings, orange juice, coffee, and tea. The breakfast room is bright with large windows and harbor views. Fresh-baked cookies and tea are served in the afternoon. There is no restaurant on site, but dozens of dining options are within a short walk on Thames Street and the wharves. Coffee, tea, and hot cocoa are available all day in the Harbor Room.

Wi-Fi is free in all areas. The 24-hour front desk staff are noted for being exceptionally friendly and helpful with local recommendations. Daily housekeeping is provided at no extra charge. Private parking is available on site for one car per room; no reservation is needed. Parking is complimentary from November through April, but a daily fee of $22.00 + tax applies from May 1 to October 31. The inn cannot accommodate oversized vehicles. There is no elevator, but staff assist with luggage. Pets are not allowed.
