HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS BOSTON BY IHG, Boston

The hotel sits in the Roxbury area, directly adjacent to a major highway. This provides quick car access but also means noise from the 10-lane road can be disruptive, especially in rooms facing the highway. The Andrew Station on the Red Line is a 5-10 minute walk away, providing direct trains to downtown Boston (2 stops), South Station, and connections to other subway lines. The bus stop (route N8) to Fenway Park is right behind the hotel. While walking into downtown is not practical, a large shopping plaza with Target, Home Depot, restaurants, and a cinema is within a 5-minute walk. The Convention Center and Boston Medical Center are reachable via the free local shuttle, which runs every hour.

Rooms are generally spacious, particularly the deluxe options with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa bed that can comfortably sleep five. Standard double queen rooms also offer ample space. King rooms are available, some with city views. All rooms include air conditioning, soundproofing, a tea and coffee maker, a hairdryer, free toiletries, and a work desk. The beds are frequently noted as comfortable, but the sofa beds are thin and uncomfortable, with springs that can poke through. The bathrooms are clean but compact, with good water pressure in the showers. Room cleanliness is variable-while many rooms are spotless, some have been noted with stained carpets or mold. Road-facing rooms suffer from significant noise; earplugs are provided but are ineffective. The air conditioning units can be noisy.

The breakfast includes a rotating selection of hot items like eggs, sausage, pancakes, and omelettes, plus cereals, yogurt, pastries, and fruit. While the variety is generally appreciated, the quality can be basic, and the use of disposable plates and cutlery has been noted. Coffee (including Costa) and tea are available free of charge in the lobby all day. There is no on-site restaurant or bar for other meals, but the hotel features a vending machine with drinks. The surrounding area offers numerous casual dining options within a 5-minute walk, including Olive Garden, Panera Bread, Starbucks, and several local pizza places.

The fitness centre is equipped with dumbbells 0 kg to 18 kg, several treadmills, and mats for stretching. It is a functional, no-frills space suitable for a basic workout. There is no pool, spa, or sauna on the property.

Free WiFi is provided in all areas. The 24-hour front desk staff can assist with check-in, luggage storage (free), and directions. A paid airport shuttle operates every hour on the hour for $10 per person each way, though service is limited on Sunday nights, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays; it must be arranged by calling the hotel upon arrival at the airport. A free local shuttle serves the Boston Medical Center and Convention Center. The on-site minimarket sells essentials, snacks, and drinks. Laundry is available (coin-operated, $2.50 per load, change available at the front desk). Business facilities include a free business centre and a meeting room (additional charge). The property is accessible with an elevator. Safety features include key card access, CCTV, fire extinguishers, and smoke alarms.
