HAWTHORN EXTENDED STAY BY WYNDHAM COLUMBUS WEST, New Rome

This hotel sits just off Interstate 70, making car access to downtown Columbus and Ohio State University straightforward, with the latter within a 30-minute drive. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is about a 20-minute drive away. The immediate area is dense with dining options-McDonald's, IHOP, Panera Bread, and other chains are within 0.5 km. A 24/7 grocery store is located directly across the street, and an AMC movie theatre is nearby. The hotel's position is central to shopping and restaurants, though traffic around the hotel can be congested during morning and afternoon rush hours, which may extend departure times. Free on-site parking is available without a reservation, making this a convenient base for car-dependent travellers.

The property offers a variety of suite layouts, all featuring a fully equipped kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, stovetop, dishwasher, and microwave, along with a separate living area. Room options include double rooms with one, two, or three beds, as well as spacious two-bedroom suites ideal for families or groups, which contain two separate bedrooms and a sleeper sofa in the living room. Each suite comes with a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a tea and coffee maker, a work desk, and free Wi-Fi. Private bathrooms include a walk-in shower, bath, hairdryer, and free toiletries. Some suites feature a jacuzzi tub, but this is only available in the upgraded king suite. The property is older and shows signs of wear, with some rooms having stained carpets, damaged furniture, or a dated appearance. However, room sizes are noted to be generous, and the kitchen amenities make the accommodation practical for longer stays or self-catering.

The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast buffet each morning. On weekends, the selection expands to include hot scrambled eggs, sausage, and potatoes, in addition to the standard continental items. The daily breakfast offerings typically include make-your-own waffles, bagels, toast, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, and fruit. Coffee and juices are also available. An evening reception with snacks or light fare is hosted Monday through Wednesday, and a snack bar is available on site. For other meals, the area surrounding the hotel provides a wide range of chain restaurants within a 5-minute drive, and the 24/7 grocery store across the street enables self-catering in the full kitchen provided in each suite.

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all areas. Free public parking is provided on site and does not require a reservation; accessible parking spaces are also available. The 24-hour front desk offers express check-in/check-out, private check-in/check-out, and invoice provision. A business centre with fax/photocopying is free to use, and meeting/banquet facilities are available at an additional charge. Daily housekeeping is free, while laundry (coin-operated, 24-hour), dry cleaning, and ironing services are offered for a fee. Vending machines for snacks and drinks are on site, and a minimarket is available. The hotel is pet-friendly (pets allowed on request, charges may apply, 18 kg limit) and has family rooms. It is fully non-smoking and has a lift. Accessibility features include facilities for disabled guests and accessible parking, though one report noted that some specific ADA-compliant room features may not be present. Safety equipment includes CCTV, key card access, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers. A $150 security deposit is required at check-in via credit card authorization.
