The neighbourhood is a vibrant nightlife hub with clubs, bars, and live music venues; the area feels lively at all hours, and while some find it less tranquil than quieter parts of London, the transport connections and convenience for gig-goers and explorers are strong. Tulse Hill station (Thameslink to Luton Airport) is also nearby.

All rooms contain metal bunk beds with a mattress, pillow, blanket, and a locker (approximately 30x30x40cm) for small to medium bags. Each bed is assigned by name. Power sockets are available in the rooms, though they may be limited - additional charging points are located in the kitchen. The building has several flights of stairs (no lift), so rooms on upper floors require climbing. The rooms are basic, with parquet floors and heating; there is no air conditioning. Windows can be opened for ventilation, but street noise and the music from the pub below are audible, especially in lower-floor rooms. Bunk beds are close together, and the top bunks can feel wobbly or creaky. The showers are small, with no private changing cubicle - users must change in the communal bathroom. Female-only dorms (rooms with 4, 6, or 8 beds) are available. There is no curtain or bed divider for privacy on the bunks.

Breakfast is a continental-style buffet: bread, butter, jam, peanut butter, Nutella, cereal, and milk, plus hot drinks. It is included in the room rate and runs from 6am to 11:30am. There is no cooked breakfast or hot food service, and the kitchen - though fully equipped with a kettle, microwaves, a multi-top stove, pots, pans, cutlery, and plates - does not have an oven. The Hootananny pub on the ground floor serves its own drinks and street food from stalls; hostel residents receive a discount on bar drinks. The hostel does not have a spa, swimming pool, or fitness centre. Leisure facilities are communal: a shared lounge with large windows on two sides and a chill-out balcony the length of the lounge, a shared TV area, and a smoking balcony.
