HOTEL BERGWIRT SCHOENBRUNN, Vienna

The hotel sits directly next to Schönbrunn Gardens and the ORF centre, with the bus stop right outside. The metro station Hietzing is 900 metres away, reachable via a 5-6 minute bus ride. From Hietzing, the city centre is approximately 12 minutes by underground. The area is quiet and residential, with the palace park, zoo, and botanical garden all within a short walk. Walking to Schönbrunn Palace itself takes about 10 minutes. The neighbourhood is well-suited for families and sightseers wanting easy access to the palace complex, though a transport pass is needed for efficient city exploration.

Rooms feature a private bathroom with hairdryer, cable TV, minibar, and free Wi-Fi. Kettles are available on request. The property offers double, twin, triple, and family rooms; a family room can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children via separate beds. However, rooms vary significantly in size - some are spacious while others are compact, especially attic rooms with sloping ceilings. Many rooms have old-style furnishings and stained carpets. Street-facing rooms can be noisy from traffic, and with windows closed the heat in summer becomes oppressive (no air conditioning). Cleanliness is inconsistent: some rooms are well-maintained while others have been noted as inadequately cleaned. Requests for a quiet, courtyard-side room are advisable.

The hotel has a restaurant open all day until 22:00, offering traditional Viennese dishes and a bar. A snack bar and coffee house on site provide lighter options. Breakfast is a buffet with bread, pastries, cold cuts, cheese, eggs, fruit, and coffee; it is available for an additional charge of €16 per person. A children's buffet and special diet menus (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free) can be requested. The restaurant has a rustic, traditional atmosphere, though service can sometimes be slow when only one staff member is on duty. Portions have been described as moderate relative to price. In-room breakfast (for a fee) and packed lunches are also available.
