For the Rho Fiera exhibition centre, take the M1 metro from Porta Venezia (35-40 minutes). Linate Airport is accessible via public transport with a change at Centrale. The surrounding area offers numerous restaurants, bars, and grocery stores, and the neighbourhood is generally quiet and safe.
