The immediate area has a good selection of restaurants, bars, and a gelateria within 0.5 km. Although the neighbourhood is calmer than central Venice, noise from restaurants on the street below can be heard in rooms facing the canal. The location is practical for travellers arriving by train or airport bus, and walkable to all main sights.

Rooms are compact and described as worn, with dated furniture, stained bedding, and poor general maintenance reported. Each room has a private bathroom, but mould on walls and ceilings is frequently noted, along with broken fixtures such as shower heads, door handles, and toilets. Air conditioning units often produce noise without cooling; heating is via a portable fan heater. Rooms may have a TV but function is inconsistent. Some rooms overlook the canal and are brighter, but also exposed to street noise. Single beds have been added to some double rooms, reducing floor space and blocking wardrobe access. Cupboards are often locked. Mosquito screens are absent, and windows may not seal fully, letting in noise and cold draughts.
