HOTEL NOVALIS, Berlin

The hotel is on a quiet side street yet within easy walking distance of Berlin's central attractions. Friedrichstrasse is 300 metres away, offering shopping and dining, while Oranienburgerstrasse, with its bars, restaurants, and shops, is 400 metres away. The Nordbahnhof Train Station is 500 metres away, providing direct rail links; regional trains RE7 and RB14 connect from Brandenburg Airport. Tram and underground stops are also a short walk away, making public transport the most practical way to get around. The area is walkable for major sights like the Brandenburg Gate, and the neighbourhood is vibrant with many dining options nearby.

The hotel offers single and double rooms, each with a private bathroom with shower and toilet. Many rooms have a fridge, electric kettle, and tea/coffee-making facilities. Beds are consistently described as comfortable, and rooms are noted for being spacious for central Berlin. The property is older, and the furnishings are dated, but rooms are generally clean. Noise can be an issue: rooms facing the street may experience street noise, while courtyard-facing rooms are quieter. The building has no lift, and the interior includes a carpeted staircase and corridors. Some rooms have windows that open, and heating is available, though the heating may turn off overnight in winter. The property is better suited to travellers who prioritise location and value over modern decor.

Breakfast is a simple continental buffet including bread, pastries, cold cuts, cheese, eggs, and hot drinks. The variety is basic but considered good value for the price. For those who prefer a wider selection, the surrounding area offers numerous cafés, bakeries, and restaurants within a few minutes' walk on Oranienburgerstrasse and nearby streets. The hotel also offers packed lunches on request, which is practical for day trips. Breakfast can be reserved and paid for at the property; it is not included in the room rate.

Bicycles can be rented from the hotel, providing a practical and enjoyable way to navigate Berlin's flat streets and cycle-friendly infrastructure. There are no on-site wellness or fitness facilities. The hotel's location in central Berlin puts many parks, cultural attractions, and leisure areas within walking or cycling distance. The property also has a small library for quiet downtime.
