HOTEL-PENSION SPREE, Berlin

The U9 line at Güntzelstraße station (one minute on foot) offers direct connections to Zoologischer Garten railway station in three stops, and to major attractions such as the Brandenburg Gate, Museum Island, Gendarmenmarkt and Friedrichstraße. Berlin's main railway stations (Central Station, Zoologischer Garten) and both airports (Tegel, Schönefeld) are reachable via U-Bahn, S-Bahn and bus combinations. The neighbourhood is filled with cafés, restaurants, and shops within a short walk, including a supermarket and popular dining spots like Cafe Engelchen and Tasty Cuisine just 300 m away. The area is also green and safe, with a large playground next to the hotel. For those arriving by car, street parking is available for a fee (€20/day on weekdays), with free parking 250 m from the hotel.

All rooms include a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, heating, and parquet floors. Rooms in the comfort class have an en-suite shower and toilet, while budget-class rooms share hallway bathroom facilities (one shower and one toilet per floor). Family rooms can accommodate up to five guests with a sofa and an inner courtyard view. There are no rooms with a balcony or air conditioning; some rooms have a refrigerator and kettle, and family rooms may include a microwave. The building is old, so rooms facing the inner courtyard offer the quietest sleep, while rooms near the hallway or shared toilet can experience noise from footsteps and doors. The accommodation is basic but functional, prioritising value over luxury.

The breakfast buffet includes bread, pastries, cheese, cold cuts, cereal, fruit, and hot drinks. The surrounding area has numerous restaurants within a 2-5 minute walk, serving Italian, Asian, Turkish and German cuisine, as well as several cafés and bakeries. Popular nearby options include Maria Restaurant & Pizzeria (0.5 km), Cafe Engelchen (0.5 km), Ishin (0.5 km) and Silla (0.5 km). There is no restaurant or bar inside the hotel itself.

The large playground next to the hotel provides a convenient outdoor area for children to play. The hotel's central location places guests within walking distance of Berlin's main cultural and commercial attractions, parks, and green spaces. There is no fitness centre or gym on-site.

Daily housekeeping and laundry (additional charge) are available. A fax/photocopying service can be arranged for a fee. The property has a lift, key-card access, CCTV in common areas, and smoke alarms. Pets are allowed on request (€10/night for small dogs or cats). Check-out is until 11:00; luggage can be stored at reception after check-out. The hotel accepts Visa, MasterCard, JCB, Maestro and EC-Card. The building also has a night concierge for late security.
