HOTEL ROYAL BASTILLE, Paris

The hotel sits directly at Bastille, one of Paris's most iconic squares and a major transport hub. The metro station is steps away, placing you on Line 1 (direct to the Louvre and La Défense) and Line 5 (to Gare de Lyon in one stop). Multiple bus routes and a hop-on-hop-off tourist bus stop are also right outside. Surrounded by dozens of brasseries, cafés, and bars - and a 200-metre walk from the Opéra Bastille - the area is active day and night. For quiet, a courtyard-facing room is recommended, as the street-facing side is part of the city's nightlife district.

Room types include doubles, twins, and quadruple options (two separate bedrooms - one with a double, one with two singles - ideal for families of 4). All rooms have a private bathroom, parquet flooring, a mini-bar, a direct-dial telephone, air conditioning, and a safe. Bedding quality varies, with some rooms featuring newer mattresses and others showing wear; extra pillows are limited. Street-facing rooms are consistently described as noisy, especially on weekend nights. Rooms on higher floors (up to the 4th) require stair-climbing with luggage. A portable fan is available in some rooms.

The fixed-price breakfast consists of a croissant, a half-baguette with butter and jam, a plain yogurt, and a choice of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or orange juice. The selection is consistent daily, with no hot dishes or savory items. The dining room is compact, and the offering is designed as a light start before heading out. For a more varied or substantial meal, dozens of restaurants and cafés - including Les Grandes Marches, Le Paradis du Fruit, and Falstaff - are within a 3-minute walk from the front door.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel free of charge. The 24-hour front desk allows late check-ins and early check-outs, with safe luggage storage for both sides of a stay. A safety deposit box is provided in rooms. Daily housekeeping is standard, but the frequency and thoroughness have been inconsistent. The hotel does not offer an elevator, so guests should be prepared to carry luggage up stairs. No private parking is available on site; the Bastille Metro station and surrounding streets are the primary arrival options.
