JSTLIKEHOME - OLD OTTAWA SUITE & GUESTHOUSE, Ottawa

The apartment offers a private entrance and a layout featuring a seating area, three bedrooms, and one bathroom with a bath or shower. The kitchen is equipped with a stovetop, refrigerator, oven, coffee machine, and kettle. Additional amenities include a flat-screen TV, free toiletries, and air conditioning. The building is older and has structural issues: floors slope, walls are cracked, and windows are drafty and do not close properly. Noise from the restaurant below and the adjacent busy road is a frequent issue. Heating is provided by small portable units that struggle to warm the space during cold weather. The apartment has mold, particularly in the bathroom and kitchen, and the unit may share spaces with other travelers.

The property is situated on a main thoroughfare with constant traffic noise. It is a 3-4 km walk to downtown Ottawa, or a short drive via the Vanier Parkway. The Beechwood area (about 1 km) offers many restaurants, cafés and bars. Bus routes are available directly outside the building, providing a 15-20 minute trip to Parliament Hill. Nearby landmarks include 24 Sussex Drive (3 km) and Rideau Locks (3 km). The neighborhood has been described as feeling unsafe at night, with several people reporting a dark entrance and an unstable, unlit staircase. Ottawa International Airport is 15 km away.

The property is directly above an Indian restaurant; cooking smells and ventilation noise can be strong inside the unit, especially in the evening. No breakfast is provided on-site; guests can prepare meals in the apartment's kitchenette, which includes a microwave, toaster oven, kettle, and basic cookware. Several supermarkets, a drugstore, and a bagel bakery are within walking distance for grocery shopping. The immediate area offers Creole Sensations, Habesha (Ethiopian), Lorenzo's Pizzeria, Black Irish Pub, and other casual dining spots.
