MAGNUSON GRAND COLUMBUS NORTH, Columbus

The rooms are furnished simply and are often described as dated, but include useful amenities: a microwave, refrigerator, ironing facilities, tea and coffee maker, hair dryer, free toiletries, and a flat-screen cable TV. Carpeting and decor reflect an older style, and some rooms show wear such as marks on walls. Cleanliness can be inconsistent; several rooms have been noted as clean and free of odors, while others have had issues with musty smells, stains, or wear. Bed comfort varies-some find the mattresses firm and comfortable, while others consider them very firm. Pillows are small. Noise carries easily in the hallways, and road-facing rooms can be louder. The first-floor rooms offer easy exit to parking, which is practical for quick access.

The complimentary breakfast is a very basic continental offering: coffee, tea, muffins, honey buns, instant oatmeal, bananas, and sometimes waffle mix. Selections tend to run out early, and there is no hot food or a full buffet. The on-site Thai restaurant is a notable asset-it serves a la carte dishes at reasonable prices and offers takeaway, which is a convenient dinner option when other nearby restaurants close around 22:00. A vending machine for drinks and snacks is also available in the hotel. For more variety, multiple fast-food and casual-dining chains are within a short walk.

The wellness facilities are housed in a separate building beside the hotel, accessible with a wristband. The fitness center is well-sized and stocked with both machines and free weights, often appreciated by those wanting a proper workout. The indoor pool is a full-size lap pool, suitable for swimming laps and recreational use; a lifeguard is posted during the limited hours (16:00-22:00). The hot tub is available but jets are sometimes non-functional. A small sauna is also present. Both facilities can be cool and the changing area has drawn comments about poor maintenance. Access requires a short walk outside, which can be inconvenient in cold or wet weather.
