The hotel sits at the intersection of 14th Street and Ocean Drive, placing you directly across from the beach and less than a minute from the sand. Lummus Park is adjacent, with walking paths and ocean views. Española Way's restaurants and nightlife are a 2-minute walk, Lincoln Road Mall is 10 minutes away, and the Miami Beach Convention Center is a 15-minute walk. The area is pedestrian-friendly with a free trolley stop nearby, and many attractions - from the Art Deco Historic District to South Pointe Park - are within easy walking distance. Driving is less convenient: Ocean Drive is often closed to traffic in front of the hotel, and parking is paid and off-site.

Accommodations include Traditional rooms (1 King or 2 Queen beds, 20-28 m2), Oceanfront rooms on the 2nd/3rd floor (1 Queen, 20 m2), Ocean Corner rooms (2 Queen, 28 m2), and the Ocean View Corner King Suite (51 m2 with sofa bed). The Oceanfront Terrace King on the top floor offers a private terrace with outdoor shower and panoramic views. All rooms have air conditioning (some units are loud), flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, safe, iron, hairdryer, blackout curtains, and private bathroom. Select rooms have a balcony or ocean view. Noise from Ocean Drive and interior corridors can be noticeable; rooms on higher floors or facing away from the street are quieter. Daily housekeeping is not automatic - request it at reception. Breakfast is served at The Green Bar (President Hotel) from 07:30-10:30 daily, costing $8.99 per person. The American-style meal includes scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast, fruit, and coffee. Service can be slow, and the menu is fixed with limited variety. Welcome drink vouchers are provided upon check-in and can be redeemed at the same bar during happy hour (16:00-20:00). There is no restaurant in the Penguin Hotel itself, but the surrounding area offers dozens of dining options within a 2-minute walk, including Havana 1957, La Sandwicherie, and several cafés.

The outdoor rooftop pool is located at the sister property (1425 Collins Ave), a one-minute walk through an alley. It is open daily from 08:00-19:30 and features a fence, sun loungers, umbrellas, and pool towels. The pool is open year-round, but can be closed for maintenance or weather without notice. Beach access is directly across Ocean Drive, and the hotel provides free beach towels. For paid beach equipment (chairs, umbrellas), you may need to rent from private vendors. The hotel's front porch on Ocean Drive offers a popular spot for people-watching. There is no spa or fitness centre on-site.

The 24-hour reception can store luggage at no charge, print boarding passes, and arrange tours or rentals. Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the property.
