PENSION CARRERA, Madrid

Pensión Carrera occupies a central position on one of Madrid's main historic streets, making all major sights accessible on foot - no transport needed for the city's core attractions. Puerta del Sol Metro station is just a few minutes' walk, providing direct links to Atocha train station (for high-speed AVE trains) and the airport via the Cercanías C-3 line. The surrounding area is dense with restaurants (with several within 300 m), bars, shops, and theatres. The building entrance is on the third floor; an elevator is available. The location scores a 9.3 for its centrality, but street-facing rooms can be affected by nightlife noise from nearby clubs and bars.

Accommodation includes single, double, twin, and family rooms (up to 4 beds). All rooms have a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer. Some rooms have windows to the street or a quieter interior courtyard; others, particularly 'economic' category rooms (e.g., room 10), are windowless - these are noticeably smaller and may feel claustrophobic. Rooms with a balcony overlooking the main street are available. Soundproofed walls and windows reduce external street noise, but internal hallway sounds (slamming doors, nearby rooms) can still be audible. Air conditioning is not functional in many rooms; portable fans are provided. Heating is communal and can make rooms too warm at night - opening a window is the only personalised adjustment. Bedding, towels, and basic furniture are generally clean, though some rooms show wear (old mattresses, aged doors, limited wall sockets). There is no safe or minibar in the rooms.

Wi-Fi is free in all areas, though speeds have been variable. A tour desk can help with local advice and maps. Luggage storage is offered at €2 per bag - useful for late flights after the 11:00 checkout. Private check-in/check-out is available, but reception is not 24-hour; advance communication of arrival time is essential, as late arrivals may not be able to enter if the reception is unmanned. The building has an elevator. The property is non-smoking throughout and pets are not allowed. Accepted payment methods: Visa, Red 6000, Maestro, MasterCard. An invoice can be provided upon request.
