PREMIER INN LONDON BARKING, Barking (Greater London)

Barking station (approximately 1 km) provides District and Hammersmith & City lines, as well as c2c train services to Fenchurch Street in under 25 minutes. A bus stop is a 5-minute walk away, offering an alternative to the 15-minute walk. The hotel is a short drive from the Excel London exhibition centre (about 15 minutes), Silverworks Island, and the O2 Arena. Stratford is about a 20-minute drive for shopping and sports events. A large Tesco supermarket is adjacent, and Barking town centre with shops and restaurants is within a 10-minute walk. The path behind the hotel is poorly lit at night, so using the bus or taxi is recommended for late returns.

Standard double, twin, and family rooms are available, with some rooms featuring baths and showers. All rooms include a private bathroom, hairdryer, free toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities, free Wi-Fi, and a TV. A work desk and armchair are provided. The family rooms are large enough for four people. Some rooms have air conditioning that works well, but in others the unit may smell stale or be ineffective; opening windows slightly is an option in some rooms. Soundproofing between floors and from the road is poor, and noise from neighbours or traffic can be an issue. Several rooms have been reported as clean and comfortable, while others have issues with damp, stained carpets, cobwebs, and smells. Room service is available on request but not automatic. Overall, the accommodation is basic and functional, suited for short stays or as a base for exploring London.

The 24-hour front desk can assist with late check-in, luggage storage, and directions. Free Wi-Fi is available in guest rooms, but the connection can be weak; an upgraded paid service (Premier Inn Plus or similar) is available for better speeds. Parking costs £8 per night and is managed by a third party; the car park is locked overnight but incidents have been reported, so parking is at the owner's risk. The hotel has a lift and facilities for disabled guests, as well as family rooms and non-smoking rooms throughout. A limited number of cots are available (free for children under 3). The hotel does not provide a business centre or meeting rooms. The service from front desk and restaurant staff is praised by many, though some have found it slow or disinterested.
