QUALITY INN DOWNTOWN HELEN, Helen

The hotel sits in the heart of the Alpine-themed village of Helen, less than 1 km from the main strip with its specialty shops, boutiques, antique stores, art galleries, and dozens of restaurants. Betty's Country Store is right next door. Unicoi State Park, Innsbruck Golf Club, and Helen Water Park are all within a few minutes' drive. Walking is the primary mode of getting around; the FestHaus and Oktoberfest grounds are a 10-minute walk away. The parking lot is safe and well-lit, with spots directly in front of some rooms. No airport or shuttle service is available, so a car or rideshare is required for arrival.

Guest rooms have been recently updated with new flooring (luxury vinyl plank in many), fresh paint, and new furniture. Standard in-room features include a 50-inch flat-screen TV with cable and Roku connectivity, microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, iron, and hairdryer. A selection of rooms also offers a desk, sofa sleeper, or whirlpool bathtub. The property is a two-story exterior-corridor motel; ground-floor rooms are available. Some rooms have connecting doors for families. Many rooms have private bathrooms (some described as small), and all are air-conditioned with heating. Upper-floor rooms may experience noise from children running until 10 PM; a room in the rear building is quieter. While many units are clean and well-maintained, some have reported minor issues such as dated furniture, small bathrooms, or dusty surfaces.

The hotel provides a complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby, with self-serve waffles, pre-packaged oatmeal, cereal, bagels, toast, muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, and coffee/hot cocoa. A snack bar and vending machines with drinks and snacks are available 24/7. There is no full-service restaurant on site, but the central location places you steps from a wide variety of dining options, including Bavarian restaurants (Hofbrauhaus, Old Heidelberg), casual eateries (Alpine Hot Dog, Two Tire Tavern), and bakeries (Hofer's Bakery and Cafe). An outdoor BBQ grill and fire pit are available for guest use. An afternoon popcorn station is a nice touch.

The property offers two outdoor pools, one of which is a saltwater pool open seasonally from late May through Labor Day. The pool area includes a fence for safety, a shallow end, sun loungers, beach chairs, and umbrellas. A device for lowering a disabled person into the water is available. The poolside area also features an outdoor fireplace and BBQ grill. There is no gym, sauna, or spa on site. For outdoor recreation, Unicoi State Park and Helen Water Park are just minutes away by car.

Free high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The 24-hour front desk can assist with early/late check-in/out requests. A business center with free copy and fax services and a complimentary daily newspaper is available. The on-site meeting room accommodates up to 30 people. Accessibility features include wheelchair-accessible rooms, accessible parking, and a sit-in chair for bathtubs on request. All rooms are non-smoking, and the hotel provides key card access, CCTV, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers. Housekeeping can be declined upon request by leaving a Do Not Disturb sign. Luggage storage is available. The pet policy allows dogs only, max 2 per room, 11 kg or less each, with a $20 per night fee per pet and a crate requirement.
