The hotel is about 137.2 m (a 2-minute walk) from the sandy Gulf beach via a dedicated walkway. A public park adjoins the property, and a free bus service runs along South Padre Island. Beach Water Park is 5 km away, and Point Isabel Lighthouse is a 14-minute drive. Several restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and a liquor store are within a 5-minute walk, making it easy to explore without a car.

Rooms come in several configurations: family suites with a king bed in one room and two queen beds in another, apartment suites with full kitchens and separate rooms, and Murphy suites with all beds in one open area. King suites are located on the ground floor only; two-queen suites are on both floors. The rooms are accessed via exterior corridors and have no balconies, though two sun decks are available. Second-floor rooms tend to be more recently updated, while ground-floor rooms show more wear. All units are air-conditioned and include a work desk, ceiling fan, and a private bathroom with bathtub or shower. Some rooms feature a sofa bed or an in-room jacuzzi.

Breakfast is served buffet-style and is well-regarded for its waffles, which are prepared by a notably friendly attendant. During peak periods the breakfast area can become crowded. The in-house restaurant, Mariscos Playa Azul Cafe, is open for breakfast, brunch, and lunch - hours are Monday through Thursday 07:00-15:00, Friday and Saturday 07:00-19:00, and Sunday 07:00-15:00. The outdoor swimming pool is open year-round and is heated only during January and February. The pool area can be lively, especially during spring break, and the hot tub may occasionally be out of service. The beach is a two-minute walk away via a private walkway; note that the beach itself is public. Outdoor showers are provided for rinsing off. Sun terraces and outdoor furniture surround the pool, and registered guests can use BBQ pits located near the beach access. No spa or wellness centre is on site.

Wi-Fi is free in all rooms. Parking is free and ample on site, with no reservation needed. The 24-hour front desk can assist with meeting/banquet facilities, fax/photocopying, and safety deposit boxes. An ATM is on site.
