SAND ROSE BEACH RESORT, South Padre Island

The resort is situated right on the beach; the pool and beach are only a few steps from the back of the property. Nearby you'll find Sea Turtle Inc., the SPI Birding and Nature Center, and the Laguna Madre boardwalk. Several restaurants, including Barry's Taqueria, Bar Louie, and Clayton's Beach Bar, are within a 5-minute walk. The South Padre Island Convention Center and World Birding Center are also minutes away by car. The area offers deep-sea fishing, parasailing, and horseback riding, all easily accessible. Walking to most attractions is practical, but a car is handy for exploring the full island, especially for dining options farther north.

Room types include multiple configurations such as quadruple rooms with three beds, triple rooms, family rooms with one king and two queen beds, and ocean-view rooms with balconies (available on floors 2-4; ground-floor rooms do not have balconies). All rooms feature air conditioning, a TV, safe, iron, and a futon or sofa sleeper. Some rooms offer in-room jacuzzis. Rooms facing the road or ground floor can experience noise from foot traffic and nearby bars, especially on weekends; higher floors are quieter. Partial-view rooms exist on the north side with a side ocean view. The property has a dated feel with some wear evident, but rooms are maintained clean.

Breakfast is included and features hot items such as omelets cooked to order, waffles, biscuits and gravy, tacos, and a variety of cereals and pastries. The on-site Ola Grill serves burgers, pizza, and daily specials with a poolside seating area. Barry's Bar & Grill offers American and Mexican cuisine for lunch and dinner. The Lookout Bar + Refuge, open daily from 11:00 to 22:00 (until 21:00 Sundays), serves drinks and food. There is also a Starbucks inside the property. Additional nearby dining options are within a short walk, but the property's own restaurants and bar provide ample choices without leaving the resort.

The outdoor swimming pool is heated during winter and is open year-round. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available around the pool; pool towels are provided. A separate kids' pool is offered for younger children. The fitness center is free for guests. Beach access is direct from the property; beach chair and umbrella rentals are available from a third-party vendor for a fee. The property does not have a spa, hot tub, or Jacuzzi. Common areas include a sun terrace and a large back deck overlooking the beach. Live music and fireworks are occasionally featured at the adjacent beach bars.

The 24-hour front desk can assist with tours, and an ATM is on site. Daily housekeeping is provided. Laundry facilities (washers and dryers) are available on every floor. The business center includes a free-to-use computer and printer. Meeting/banquet facilities are available at an additional cost. Wheelchair-accessible rooms and roll-in showers are offered, though accessible rooms are not beachfront. Pets are allowed with a fee of $20 per pet per night (max two pets), plus a $25 daily deposit. There are designated smoking areas only. Key card access is used for room entry; key card batteries may require maintenance.
