Set on the former estate of Princess Kaiulani and a crosswalk away from Waikiki Beach, the hotel offers direct access to the sand without the premium price of beachfront properties. The International Marketplace is right next door, and the Royal Hawaiian Center is a few blocks away. A two-minute walk puts you at the heart of Waikiki's shopping, dining, and entertainment district. The bus stop is close by, making it practical to explore Honolulu without a car. The central location means surrounding hotels, such as the Sheraton Waikiki and Moana Surfrider, are within easy walking distance for dining and bar options. The parking garage entrance is shared with neighboring hotels, and the garage has no internal elevators-only stair access on certain levels-so dropping luggage at the curb before parking is strongly recommended.

Rooms in the Ainahau Tower have been updated with a tranquil coastal-inspired palette, refreshed lighting, contemporary seating, and new carpet. All include a private lanai (balcony) with ocean, pool, or city views, the Sheraton Signature Sleep Experience with premium linens, a mini-refrigerator, and a flat-screen TV with cable channels. Rooms are compact-especially the standard double and king configurations-so the balcony becomes a key extension of living space. The older Princess Wing and Kaiulani Wing have not been renovated and feature older carpet, smaller bathrooms with shower curtains, and less reliable soundproofing. City-view rooms on the Kaiulani Avenue side are exposed to significant noise from street performers, traffic, and the International Marketplace's air conditioning units, particularly until late evening. Rooms with connecting doors between units can transfer noise from neighbors. The bathrooms in older rooms lack ventilation fans, and some have poor water pressure and rusted fittings. No suites or sofa beds are available, but rollaway beds can be requested for US$80 per day, subject to availability.

The Splash Bar is the hotel's primary food-and-beverage outlet, offering American and local cuisine with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. It is open daily from 06:30 to 21:00 and serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and a cocktail hour. Breakfast is available as a continental buffet (pastry, yogurt, fruit, one beverage) or as a discounted menu upgrade-the continental is not free unless part of a booking package. An à-la-carte breakfast menu includes items like pancakes and poke bowls. A take-away breakfast option is available at the bar. The menu is limited and casual, with a fast-casual/poolside feel. Several excellent restaurants are within a short walk, including Japengo Steak and Seafood, and Marukame Udon. Microwaves are available on a first-come, first-served basis from the front desk.

The outdoor swimming pool is open year-round from 08:00 to 19:00, with a pool bar serving cocktails and snacks. The pool is L-shaped: about 10% is shallow (0.9 m) and the rest drops steeply to 6.5-2.6 m, so it is not ideal for toddlers or weak swimmers without life vests. Complimentary pool towels, sunscreen (coral-safe SPF50), and pool chairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis (maximum 60 guests). The 24-hour fitness centre is spacious and well-equipped with modern machines. Complimentary cultural activities are offered, including ukulele lessons, lei-making, hula dancing, and local storytelling sessions. There is no spa. Beach chairs (Tommy Bahama) are provided for a fee or free for Gold-level members and above. Yoga classes are offered, and Moana Surfrider's 06:15 yoga class is open to hotel guests.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the property and is included in the resort fee. A mobile hotspot is also provided as part of the resort fee. Luggage storage is available at no charge, making it practical for early arrivals or late departures. Express check-in/out is free. The 24-hour front desk has concierge, tour desk, and safety deposit box services. The business centre and meeting/banquet facilities are available at an additional charge. Laundry service is available at an additional charge. The elevator system in the Ainahau Tower is under renovation, with two of four elevators frequently out of service, leading to waits of 10-15 minutes during peak times (check-in, breakfast). The parking structure has no passenger elevators-access to the hotel is via stairs on levels 5-7. The property is wheelchair accessible, with lower bathroom sinks, raised toilets, grab rails, and ADA-compliant rooms near elevators. Electric vehicle charging stations are available on site.
