THE PAINTER'S HOUSE, Rome

The Painter's House sits in a quiet side street less than 100 metres from Roma Termini, making it ideal for travellers arriving by train, metro, bus, or airport shuttle. Vittorio Emanuele Metro Station is a 6-minute walk, and the Terravision bus from Fiumicino Airport stops within sight of the front door. Major sights such as Santa Maria Maggiore (500 m), the Colosseum (1 km), and the Roman Forum are within a 20-minute walk or a short metro ride. The area around Termini has a wide selection of restaurants, bars, shops, and a large food market inside the station, but the street itself remains quiet overnight. For those arriving from or departing to other Italian cities, the direct rail connections from Termini provide easy onward travel.

Each room includes a private bathroom with shower, bidet, hairdryer, and towels provided. Rooms feature air conditioning, heating, hypoallergenic bedding, a flat-screen TV, tea and coffee-making facilities, a refrigerator, a dining table, a work desk, a sofa, and a wardrobe. The rooms are well-sized-enough for two large suitcases to be open-and are quiet even with the proximity to Termini, thanks to the side-street location. The decor includes the host's own artwork and sculptures, giving the property the feel of a mini gallery. A shared lounge area is available with unlimited tea, coffee, a fridge, and basic kitchen equipment. Luggage storage before check-in and after checkout is always offered by the host.

A complimentary Italian breakfast is provided via a voucher for a café just a few minutes' walk away, typically including a hot drink, a croissant, and a small juice. The voucher system makes it easy to start the day quickly, and the café staff are familiar with the property. For those who prefer lighter or earlier options, the shared kitchen area is stocked with unlimited tea and coffee, a refrigerator, a microwave, and basic equipment for preparing simple meals. The surrounding area, particularly Mercato Centrale inside Termini station and the streets nearby, offers a wide variety of dining options from trattorias to Asian and Korean restaurants, most within a 5-minute walk.

The property does not have a gym, pool, spa, or leisure facilities. The primary amenity for relaxation is the shared common area, which offers a quiet, artistically decorated space with tea and coffee. City exploration is the main leisure activity, with all of Rome's historic centre accessible on foot (about 20-30 minutes to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, and Spanish Steps) or via the metro and bus stops right at the door.
