WOMBAT'S CITY HOSTEL VIENNA NASCHMARKT, Vienna

The hostel sits directly beside the famous Naschmarkt, Vienna's most popular food market, with numerous food stalls, bars, and restaurants steps away. A Saturday flea market is also held at the Naschmarkt. The Kettenbrückengasse U4 metro station is a 2-minute walk, directly connecting you to the city centre (Karlsplatz, Staatsoper), Schönbrunn Palace, and Belvedere. Popular landmarks such as MuseumsQuartier, Kunsthistorisches Museum, and Karlskirche are all easily reachable. Vienna International Airport is 17 km away: take the S7 train to Landstraße/Wien Mitte, then the U4 to Kettenbrückengasse. Three supermarkets (including an Aldi) are within the same block.

All rooms feature a private bathroom with shower and toilet. Each dorm bed has its own curtain for privacy, an individual fan, a personal locker that operates with the room key card (no padlock needed), a reading light, and a small safe. Bed sheets are included; towels are available for an extra charge. The rooms are soundproofed and have heating. The building has a lift. Rooms on upper floors tend to be quieter, while those facing the street can be noisier, especially on weekends due to the bar and market activity. The mattresses are firm, and pillows are thin. Some rooms have a wardrobe and a mirror. The hostel is adults-only (minimum age 18), but children are allowed in private rooms when accompanied by an adult.

Breakfast is a buffet with bread, rolls, toast, ham, cheese, vegan hummus, homemade porridge, granola, yogurt, fruit salad, and veggie sticks. There is an unlimited free coffee and tea station (the hostel's own breakfast roast). Eggs cost extra (3.50 EUR). The WomCAFÉ serves the hostel's own signature coffee roast, supporting Viennese coffee house culture, with trained baristas. The WomBAR opens in the evening and serves a curated toast menu (by chef Christian Mezera), as well as a range of drinks including the Path of the Wombat pale ale (brewed by Bevog), biodynamic Wieninger wines, and cider from BlakStoc. A guest kitchen is available from 5 am to midnight, fully equipped with utensils, a fridge, microwave, and kettle.

The hostel runs a regular schedule of social events such as free walking tours (available for signing up at reception), karaoke nights, and pool tournaments. The WomBEATS free concert series features international artists in an intimate setting. Evening entertainment includes the WomBAR, which is open until late, offering a lively atmosphere with billiards and table tennis. There is no spa, pool, or wellness centre on site.

The reception is staffed 24/7 and offers luggage storage (free before check-in and after check-out). Lockers in the rooms are operated via key card. For larger suitcases, a separate locker room is available. A self-service coin-operated laundry (washer and dryer) is located on the lower floor. The hostel has a lift and is wheelchair accessible, with an emergency cord in the bathroom, toilet grab rails, and wheelchair-accessible rooms. Daily housekeeping is included. Items such as irons, adapters, and hairdryers (10 EUR deposit) can be borrowed from reception. Vending machines for drinks and snacks are available. Bicycle rental and billiards are offered for an additional charge. WiFi is free in all areas. No tram or shuttle service is provided.
