ZAZIE HOTEL, Paris

The hotel is ideally placed for public transport: Métro Reuilly-Diderot (Line 1 & 8) is 350 metres away, providing direct access to La Défense, the Eiffel Tower, and Disneyland Paris. Gare de Lyon is 800 metres on foot, making it a practical choice for train travellers. The Bastille opera house and the lively Marché d'Aligre are both about 20 minutes' walk. For those driving, on-street parking is limited, but three bookable public car parks operate nearby, with rates from €16 per night.

Rooms are simple and functional, with parquet flooring, a sitting area, and heating. While they are clean and well-maintained, the size is typical of Paris budget hotels - compact for two people and tight for three. The bathrooms are basic and can feel dated; the shower may leak water onto the floor, and the liquid soap can be difficult to dispense. There is no air conditioning, only a fan, and street-facing rooms can be warm in summer when windows are closed. For a quieter stay, request a room away from the road or on a higher floor. Ironing facilities are available, and free toiletries are provided.

Breakfast runs from 7:00 to 10:00 (11:00 on Sundays) and features organic produce, free-range eggs, fresh fruit, homemade yoghurt, breads, and pastries. It is a solid, eco-friendly option for starting the day, though the coffee may not suit all tastes. The hotel also has a snack bar and offers wine/champagne for an additional charge. For other meals, the surrounding area is filled with affordable restaurants, bakeries, and cafés - many within a 5-minute walk - including Maison Landemaine for excellent bread and pastries.

The hotel provides reliable, free Wi-Fi throughout. The 24-hour reception can arrange express check-in/out, help with luggage storage (free), and organise concierge services including walking tours and bike rental. There is no restaurant, but a snack bar and coffee shop on site offer light bites. For families, cots are available upon request. Security features include CCTV, smoke alarms, and 24-hour security. The hotel's key-card access system and lift make it accessible for most guests. Note that there are no in-room safes, and airport shuttle is not offered.
