ALIUS AND FREEROME HOTEL, Rome

The hotel sits on Via Nazionale, a main avenue lined with outlet shops, restaurants, and a Carrefour supermarket. Repubblica - Teatro dell'Opera Metro Station is a 3-minute walk away, Roma Termini is 10 minutes on foot, and bus stops are directly outside. Key landmarks like Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and the Colosseum are reachable in 12-20 minutes without public transport. The neighbourhood is safe and well-connected, making it practical for tourists who want to walk or use the metro. The central location also means consistent street noise; rooms facing the boulevard are more exposed to traffic and pedestrian sounds, while rear-facing rooms are quieter.

Room types include double, triple, and family configurations. Each room has a private bathroom with shower, free toiletries, a work desk, and a TV. Family rooms sleep up to three. The property offers soundproofed rooms, but the level of noise insulation varies - rooms near the main entrance or the breakfast area can pick up hallway and street sounds. Many units face the street, which adds to the noise; requesting a quieter interior room improves sleep quality. While air conditioning and heating are available, some units have had intermittent issues with hot water and water pressure. The building is older and many rooms show signs of wear - cracked walls, minor stains, outdated furniture. For travellers who plan to be out most of the day and only use the room for sleeping and showering, the basics (bed, clean sheets, air conditioning, fridge) are adequate. Those expecting modern interiors or spacious layouts may find the condition underwhelming.

The hotel does not operate a restaurant or serve a traditional breakfast. Instead, it provides a self-service area with an automatic espresso machine, hot water for tea, bottled water, and individually wrapped croissants and packaged snacks - all free of charge. This works as a light grab-and-go option to start the day. For a hot breakfast or a sit-down meal, there are numerous cafés and restaurants within a 5-minute walk, including George Byron Cafe and Gelateria Verde Pistacchio at 0.5 km, and Ristorante Alessio at 0.5 km. The hotel does not offer room service or a minibar; a fridge is available in some rooms for storing water and personal items. A paid bar is located on the ground floor of the building. Guests wanting a full hot breakfast should plan to eat at a nearby café.

The hotel provides free Wi-Fi throughout - suitable for browsing and basic work needs. Express check-in/out and a private check-in option streamline arrival and departure. The tour desk can help arrange sightseeing maps and local recommendations. Luggage storage is available, useful for early arrivals or late departures. Car and bicycle hire can be arranged on site. Paid services include laundry, ironing and dry cleaning. Daily housekeeping is offered but may incur a fee (around €7 per person) and typically includes bed-making and bin emptying; towel changes happen every three days unless paid extra. The lift is present but occasionally unreliable, and guests with mobility issues should be prepared to use stairs. The property has 24-hour CCTV, key card access, and safety deposit boxes. The front desk is staffed from 14:00 to 22:00; outside these hours, the property relies on online check-in and access codes.
